Date: 12/10
Book: Chew on This
Author: Eric Schlosser and Charles Wilson

Quote: After all, they were made out of chicken. But their health benefits were an illision.
Reation: I can't believe that at first, people fell for it that McNuggets were actually healthy. A scientist placed an experiment and it show that they are not healthy and he was asking himself, how could it be? Simple, they're beinf fried in oil and beef fat. Reation: OMG!

Quote:The Construction of huge feedlots, slaughterhouses, and hamburger grinders has made it easier for E. coli O157:H7 and other nasty germs to spread through the nation's food supply.
Reaction: That E. coli germ is very scary and because of one error could affect millions of places and people. I remember about the spinich incident that happen last year, wow. Many people died and got extremely sick. It's food poising. It comes from the cow poop. The spinich got infected because there was a cow rach next to the spinich ranch and the poop manage to get into the water system and when the plants were getting watered, they were getting infected and they were sent to millions of stores all over the nation and people got very sick and some died. This book, Chew on This, is giving me the chills because It's telling you the truth and the truth seems to be a lie.

Quote: The Same burger that most people can finish in a few minutes would take Sam about fifteen hours to eat.
Reaction: Wow. That's a long time. Imagine that. And he could of avoided all of this if he haden't eaten so much fast-food as you typical people of the day call it. He would have to cut his "fast-food" into many tiny small pieces. He had surgury on him and now he looks like the normal teenager. People don't make fun of him because he's overweight and he like how he look but doesn't like how he eats. He was lucky. He survived. He could of died and almost did because some clog in a vein that could damage his heart of lungs permanently. I am glad he survived. I hope this teaches people what in the beggining of the book said something like that McDonald's and other fast-food resatraunts don't put the real price on the menu. This is what happen to him. He might of not known that he might of been getting larger and if they had put the real price, none of this would of happen...

Book: Chew on This
Author: Eric Sclosser and Charles Wilson

Quote: A new disease, bovine spongiform encephalopathy, nicknamed "BSE" or "mad cow diease," was literally destroying their brains.
Reaction: At first, I thought I was dreaming. That diease actually destoys your brain. Pretty Scary. Ican't believe that people began to get that disease and they were getting infected by the mad cow disease. I thought the disease was about cows that they were losing their minds and going out of control. I was unique what one guy came up with that since millions of cows were affected, to burn them for electricity. Good money even though cruel to the animals. OMG!

This is a New Semester :]

Week ♥9♥ Reading Log ☺

Date: 3/31
Book: The Giver
Author:Lois Lowry

Quote:"What happened to her?"he asked nervously.
But his parents looked blank. "We don't know."

Reaction: No Way! Was the community ashamed because of what that reciever did? I found that pretty harsh. They must of really been dissapointed. It makes me wonder, why would they do this? It seems where they are doesn't really care how people feel but their actions do. When I saw the quote I went like this must be a joke but it isn't. Wow. Hope Jonas isn't a failure.

Date: 4/1
Book: The Giver
Author: Lois Lowry

Quote: Why don't we have snow, and sleds, and hills?

Reaction: I mean how could the snow or something like that affect how "perfect" the community is. I'm not saying is completely perfect but what I am trying to say is that, snow, climate control, id the community like inside a green house or something like that. I was liked actually angry and sad when I read the quote. It made me angry that people were feeling artifical nature and it made me sad because they'll never be able to feel the real nature. The community is like a fantasy place where nothing is real but what they see. They will never see beyond the community unless they apply to get released which is like impossible. It makes me wonder how Jonas must feel, he now knows that all he has ever known is just like a flower. You see the flower but all you know is what you see because you can't go find out that flowering plants are heterosporangiate, producing two types of reproductive spores.

Date: 4/2
Book: The Giver
Author:Lois Lowry

Quote: We really have to protect people from wrong choices.

Reaction: It made me querry on how people will make the wrong choices. I think the whole point on how they live is so that the community won't turn into a life of crime. If the citizens can make their own choices, well, they might make the wrong ones just as stated in the quote. That's the point on why its set up like that. It made me think that even the littlest choice might cause a bigger choice until it turns very ugly. Its just strange how the citizens behave and how it doesnt' have alot of trouble. I know their whole life they're behaving, but still, it doens't hurt to think outside the box.

Date: 4/3
Book:The Giver
Author:Lois Lowry

Quote: The Giver looked away, as if he could not bear to see what he had done to Jonas. "Forgive me, " he said.

Reaction: I found this kinds awkward because maybe Jonas didn't find it that horrible and threatning. Maybe Jonas will learn from that experience because he saw that people were dying and as stated in the next chapter he helps a boy. He probably may have felt some of the Giver's pain but it all ends up being great. At first when I read the quote I was saying to myself that oh my I'm steal all of ur cookies. What was the horrible pain that the Giver felt. I got interested and continued to read all the way till I knew what I needed to know. As it turns out, this book is getting very interesting when at first I was going What is this book talking about but now I'm very into, this book is good. I want to do tinie reading it and I am like a few chapters toward. Awsome!!!

Date: 4/4
Book: The Giver
Author:Lois Lowry
Quote:"Then I wave bye-bye," he said, in the special sweet voice he used when he spoke to the newchild.

Reaction: I didn't really get it. So Jonas hasn't been taking his pills so I was actually supeised and it kinds made me giggle what Gabriel called himself. I was confused about the game and Asher getting mad at Jonas. It makes me think is this realated to what memory because it something about war and the game is cruel something like that. I think Jonas is beggining to get the feeling of what he was thinking of Fiona. I don't fully understand what is going on but I am getting very curious. Very interesting..................

Reaction: If the paper is written that way and he insist its supposed to be that way then the teacher should try to understand the essay. It has impropper words and the teacher thinks that he did that on purpose. I, in my opinion if I were the teacher, I would take a better look at it.
